Book Swap - October 24th, 6:30- 8 p.m. - Cafeteria

Our annual Book Swap is coming up on the evening of 10/24! Come visit with Blaze, get some swag, enter for a chance to win a door prize, all while picking out some “new to you” books!

Donations are currently being collected and there are red barrels in the front entrance of the school where students can drop off the books. ALL types of gently used books (picture books, series, non-fiction, biography, mysteries, foreign language, adult fiction, cookbooks, tech & travel guides welcome too) are welcome!

Students will fill out the CERTIFICATE that came home in Thursday folders to include the number of books they donated which will be how many they can take home from the Swap.

Volunteers are also needed to make this event a success - click on the button below to sign-up.

Reflections

The Baranoff PTA invites all our students to submit independently-created art to Reflections!

Reflections is the National PTA's arts recognition program, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Baranoff!

Art entries must relate to the theme, "Look Within," and can be in any of these six categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, photography, visual arts, or music composition.

Parents, please also read through the Official Participation Rules. (Spanish version here.)

Please also review with your entrant(s) the rules below for the category or categories chosen by your child(ren).

Category Rules for:

Dance Choreography English   ~ Spanish

Film Production English   ~ Spanish

Literature English   ~ Spanish

Photography English   ~ Spanish

Visual Arts English   ~ Spanish

Music Composition English   ~ Spanish

General Arts Category Rules can be found in English and Spanish.

Students may make multiple submissions.

Entrants must create their art without assistance. The exception to this is the Special Artist category, which allows for non-artistic 504 and IDEA accommodations to be met. (See the rules for the Special Artist category here in English and here in Spanish.)

There is no entry fee. The only requirement is that someone in the artist's family is a member of Baranoff PTA (just $10 for the year!). You can join the PTA here

Entries are due November 6th. They must be accompanied by a completed entry form (here in English, here in Spanish), which includes a title and an artist statement, and placed in the labeled box on the bookcase in the lobby. You will find copies of the entry form there, and we will try to keep a stock of envelopes and paper clips and such to prepare the entry as described in the rules, for those students who may need them.

All of the art will be displayed at Baranoff, and students will receive an award and ribbon to recognize their work! Some art will be advanced to the Austin Council of PTAs. Some may go on to the state or national level. But our focus will be on recognizing students on our campus. All of the submitted work will be on display at the school when students walk the stage for their awards at the Reflections Recognition Night on May 7th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Please email any questions to Adam and Krisdee Donmoyer at BaranoffReflections@gmail.com.
