REFLECTIONS PROGRAM
Baranoff PTA Reflections Program 2006-2007
This year's theme is "My Favorite Place"

The Baranoff PTA was proud to again sponsor "The Reflections Program". Students are encouraged to express their thoughts, feelings and ideas in one or more of SIX artistic mediums (literature, musical composition, photography, visual arts, dance choreography and film/video production) for fun and recognition. There are two age divisions for the elementary program: Pre-school to 2nd and 3rd to 5th grades.

Participation in the Reflections Program is voluntary. Entries may be created as a classroom assignment or independently at home. However, the entry must be the original work of the student only, without help or editing from others. Only new pieces of artwork inspired by this year’s theme, “My Favorite Place” are eligible for submission to the program.

Students are encouraged to think about the theme and talk with family and friends about what the theme means to them. Then, create a piece of artwork or video, take a photo, dance, write a song, story or poem about it. All participants will have their work displayed at school and will receive recognition for their participation at our annual Reflections Reception on February 1st, 2007.

Entries will be judged by professionals within the community with expertise in each artistic category. The top selections will advance to the Area Council and could advance to the District, State or National PTA levels. Take some time to visit the National PTA’s Reflections Gallery at www.pta.org/reflections06/ to view recognized entries from 2006.

Entry forms and the rules for each of the artistic mediums are available online at www.txpta.org/reflections.html, or copies are available in the front office at Baranoff. Please read the rules carefully and fill out entry forms completely. Entries that do not meet the rules and requirements of the National PTA can not advance. Students may submit multiple entries, but each must have a separate entry form.

All entries must be turned in on Tuesday, October 31, 2006 to the PTA Volunteer Room at Baranoff between 7:10 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. If you have questions, please call Ramona Pope, Reflections Chairperson, at 291-0637.
