Your Baranoff PTA works hard on many activities at Baranoff.

From purchasing curriculum supplies, hosting evening family events, and supporting classroom activities, our school year is a busy one.  As we work on day-to-day activities that support the education of our children, it helps to keep an eye on long term goals that will benefit our children in the years to come.

Here is a list of long term goals that we would like to focus on this year and how we plan to achieve them.


Continue to support technology and science.
*  Fund a technology support person.  This position will support our teachers' technology needs, train them on new technologies as necessary, and aid students/teachers in the computer lab.

*  Fund needs in the science lab and outdoor classroom.  The science lab, launched in 2008, has been an amazing success.  The children look forward to their weeks in the lab to complete many hands-on science experiments.  The PTA is thrilled to be one of the few Elementary schools with both indoor and outdoor science classrooms.

*  Fund other technology related needs as they arise during the school year.

*  Help keep the technology resources at Baranoff in step with latest innovations.


Beautify Baranoff
*  Complete work on the outdoor classroom.  Major renovations were completed last year to include a classroom area with bench seating.  Continued site improvements are needed for this year.

*  Create outdoor areas where students could study or have lunch.

* Improve landscaping on campus.  This goal will necessitate HUGE community support.  Watch for CAMPUS WORK DAYS!

*  Go green.  This includes a push for more email messaging and limiting paper announcements in the Thursday folders.  It's critical for all parents to register at the Baranoff PTA website to receive these announcements.


Continue to encourage parental involvement.
*  Increase PTA membership to 600 members.

*  Continue to provide opportunities for volunteerism. 

*  Continue to work on communication via our website.

*  Ensure that all parents feel welcome at Baranoff and have a source of information.

*  Provide meaningful educational opportunities for parents.  Last year, we brought you an evening with an estate planning lawyer.  This year, we hope to have presentations on college savings, healthy eating, and wise choices for "tween-aged" children.
