Dear Parents:
As you know, it is so very important that our children read, read, read…not only during the school year, but all summer as well. Baranoff is excited to offer you our 10th Annual Summer Reading Incentive Program.
The children are being asked to strive toward a goal of reading for 100 minutes each of the 11 weeks of summer vacation. The children can read books, magazines, items from the computer or internet…as long as they are reading something! For our Kindergarten students, time spent being read to can be included.
Complete the Baranoff Summer Reading Log by writing in the number of minutes spent reading each day and totaling the minutes for each week. Please be sure to log in all time spent reading, even if the total minutes for the week do not reach the desired 100 minutes.
A parent or another caregiver must sign the completed Reading Log. Return the Reading Log to your child’s teacher by Friday, August 27, 2010. Please be sure to fill in your child’s name, grade and new teacher’s name before turning in the Reading Log.
All students who participate in the Summer Reading Program will receive a certificate and bookmark. Children who meet the goal of 1,100 minutes for the entire summer will receive some extra goodies along with their certificates and bookmarks.
Thank you, in advance, for making our 10th Annual Summer Reading Incentive Program a success. Have an exciting and adventurous summer reading, and remind your children daily to read, read, read!!!

There are a lot of ways to encourage your children to read this summer.
Our Baranoff Library will be open each Monday in June. All current Baranoff children and rising Kindergarteners are encouraged to visit.
The Austin Library is offering a fun reading program with crafts and activities throughout the summer. And there are several stores offering incentives for children to read more great books. A growing list of programs is below.
